In the past, I have compiled a list of sites that will have streams of information related to the Apple World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC 2009). Today, I’m a bit behind but am still hoping to get a list published quickly. The WWDC 2009 takes place in San Francisco from June 8-12, 2009. The Keynote starts at 10:00 am Pacific time.
The WWDC 2009 looks to be a very promising event for Apple fans out there. My predictions: immediate availability of iPhone Firmware 3.0, announcement of next generation iPhone (16/32GB, faster processor, video, more RAM, pre-loaded with 3.0) with an availability of July, Snow Leopard (next Mac OS X operating system) available in early August and some sort of a tablet announcement (XXL iPhone).
Here is a list that I have compiled:
- CrunchGear/TechCrunch – Has video stream of the conference and live blogging – http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/06/08/wwdc-2009-crunchgear-liveblog/
- Gizmodo – live blog of the event – http://live.gizmodo.com/
- Engadget – live from the Phil Schiller keynote – http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/08/phil-schiller-keynote-live-from-wwdc-2009/
- TUAW – The Unofficial Apple Weblog will not be doing live coverage but will have interviews and a meta-liveblogging of the event: http://www.tuaw.com/2009/06/08/join-tuaw-at-10-am-pt-1-pm-et-for-our-wwdc-keynote-meta-liveblog/
- MacRumors – they will have a live coverage of the event here: http://www.macrumorslive.com/ (note, I believe last year, during a live blog of the MacWorld Expo 2009, their servers were hacked)
- Ars Technica – they have had really good live coverage in the past. Their live blog is here: http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2009/06/apple-wwdc-keynote-liveblog-coverage.ars (note: their live page also has Twitter, liveblog IRC and chat IRC listings)
- MacWorld – they have coverage of the keynote: http://www.macworld.com/article/140897/2009/06/keynote.html?t=201
- MacDailyNews – they have an optimized page for getting live blog updates on the keynote: http://www.macdailynews.com/wwdc_2009_keynote.html
- MacNN – I haven’t found their live page but in the past it has been at: http://live.macnn.com
- c|net – they will be live blogging the event here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10257637-37.html?tag=mncol;txt
- iPhoneAlley – live blog is being shown here: http://www.iphonealley.com/news/live-wwdc-keynote-coverage-starts-here-10-am-pacific
Of course, if you want to watch things live on Twitter, you can potentially be bombarded with updates. I will try to post highlights as I hear them as well as my commentary on this on my Twitter account (@HighTechDad) so be sure to follow me for that. Some ways to watch:
- Twitter Search – you can search for keywords on Twitter Search. Some to help: “apple“, “wwdc“, and “iPhone“
- TwitterFall – Great way to watch all of the tweets happening in a “twitter fall” (like a waterfall). Here is the one for the “iPhone, Apple, & WWDC” keywords: http://twitterfall.com/?trend=iPhone&trend=Apple&trend=WWDC
- Twitscoop– Similar to Twitter Search, you can track keyword searches and hashtags (#). Here is the link to the 3 keywords listed above: http://www.twitscoop.com/search?Apple+OR+iPhone+OR+WWDC
If you have others, submit them as a comment. I will update this as fast as I can.
HTD: Looking forward to the announcements today at the WWDC 2009!
