I have seen many different types of cases for iPads out there and most of the ones that I have reviewed are for “out in the world” use cases, meaning they provide hard case protection (and some even include Bluetooth keyboards). But then I got to spend some time with the CushPad, which is a large, bulky, pillow-like “case” that is more for enabling easier reading, especially while lounging around the house and in bed.

The CushPad holds your iPad 2 or 3 (the “new” iPad) snuggly between two bevels. You can use an iPad 1 (which is what we used for testing) but CushPad doesn’t recommend it. My wife was the primary tester of the CushPad, using it when we were lounging around in bed while on vacation.

There really isn’t anything techy or geeky about the CushPad, but it can make your techy and geeky life just a bit more comfortable.

The CushPad has a handle so that you can actually carry it (and an attached iPad around) fairly safely. As you can see below, if you were to drop the iPad, you can see that the iPad is protected as there is about an inch between where the iPad rests and the floor or hard surface.

There are two viewing angles for the horizontal direction based on how you prop the CushPad, one is more upright and another more reclined.

Another nice thing is that you can lie down and prop the CushPad vertically on its side and watch quite comfortably. The cover has a zipper which allows for it to be removed for easy cleaning.

The CushPad retails for $34.99 but if you go to the CushPad website, you can apply a $5 “Facebook Discount” to make it $29.99. The CushPad is also available on Amazon for about $35.

The CushPad comes in a variety of colors to match your style: blue, green, red, black and pink.
