I don’t normally post articles about advertising campaigns but this new campaign coming out from Nissan got my attention for a few reasons, but mainly because they are “family oriented” and funny.

Baby 4 - HighTechDad™

The first of these ads depicts a couple who just found out that they are going to have a child. The (typical?) dad’s brain starts racing as his goes out to see his flashy Nissan 370Z Coupe sitting in the driveway. He realizes that the Coupe really isn’t ideal for a family, since it is a two-seater. Watch the video below to see what he does to correct it:

The next ad depicts a kid practically destroying all of his toy cars. This is your typical boy in action, playing with and mangling all of his toy cars. The ad is humorously titled “Kidzilla”.

Kidzilla 2 - HighTechDad™

You should see how he destroys some of the toy cars. Can you guess which car remains unscathed? Yep, it’s the Nissan Altima. Watch the video to see the destruction in action:

Personally, I like what Nissan has done here. They show their autos in creative yet funny ways, especially appealing to the Dads out there. There are some other ones as part of the campaign and these will be rolling out over the next few weeks. These spots will start airing September 1st, 2010.

What do you think? Did they make you laugh or at least smile?

As a side note, I recently experienced the Nissan Leaf ad that is making its rounds on the iPhone as an Apple iAd. This was my first experience with an iAd and I must admit it was a positive one. It displays as a simple banner within an app, but when you click on it, it launches what I consider to be a full-fledged application, complete with video, sound, animation and interactivity. I even tweeted about my experience because it was so different than what I’m used to seeing in a mobile ad. I spent a few minutes actually, playing with every aspect of the ad.
