Travel? Who has the time or money to travel nowadays! Sure I travel…a lot! From the bed, to the shower, out the door, to the car, to the train, on the train, to work, and back again. It’s a great trip actually. I get to read the paper and occasionally do some writing.
In fact, my writing is happing right now, as I travel.
But, every time I want to write, I’m stuck with carrying around a laptop, hoping that my battery won’t die, wishing that I had a camera to snap a picture and then save all of my thoughts. And then there’s the problem of finding a Wi-Fi connection…groan! I simply cannot lug around my “blogger bag” everywhere I go.
But more about that a bit later.
What I really want to know is what you consider to be traveling! My wife, for example, is the chauffer and drives the family taxi and we put more miles on her car in one day than I do in a week. Who says the perpetual motion machine doesn’t exist! It’s our mini-van. With a busy family of 5 (3 elementary school girls), with crazy overlapping activities and barely any time to breath, it’s a wonder that we can get anything accomplished.
So for us, there is no family travel. Well, maybe occasionally but not as much as we would like. Let me give you a hint on how our travel time works…(and note, all of these pictures were taken with the HTC Tilt 2!)…
I travel these stairs about 10 times a day (to the car & back)!
Getting ready to do the “taxi” thing!
Off to pick up my daughter from a birthday party.
Found the birthday party (thanks for the travel destination “beacon”)!
Heading to pick up other daughters from dance.
Lots of ballerinas!
Letting my oldest daughter take some photos of me traveling.
The view from the passenger’s seat.
My daughter’s perspective. Can you see her in the mirror using the HTC Tilt 2?
Heading down the road.
My “trip” to take out the trash.
Traveling to the curb.
My “voyage” to work in the morning.
The train parking lot. Can you see the crosses? (Info on that here).
At 6AM in the morning, no one is happy traveling to work!
Up the escalator.
Walking to the office.
And up the elevator!
So here’s the thing…it sounds like everyone’s life right? I’m no different than any one of you. We are all crushed with the onslaught of daily routines and schedules, intermixed with the to and from various places, so how can you get ahead of all the travel madness?
Well, one way is to become super organized. Another is to be able to multi-task wherever you are. So how can you do this without lugging your entire desk, computer, phone, camera, calendar, what have you? Well, one way is to just “Lose It”, that is to say Lose the Laptop.
And I guess that I’m going to be a bit of a guinea pig here since AT&T has supplied me with a HTC Tilt 2 to do just that…lose the laptop! In fact, all of the photos in this post were done with the HTC Tilt 2 (with the exception of the one below).
The “Lose the Laptop” program is pretty cool actually and not just for me. Over the next few months I’m going to be using the AT&T HTC Tilt 2 for a variety of tasks. This month, for example, it’s all about TRAVEL.
But again, this is not about me! YOU need to get involved as well. How? Well first you need to do what you are doing right now…reading this post. But don’t just stop with mine, there are other participants as well. Once you find a person or post that you particularly like, you vote for it (or the person). And by registering and voting, you can win too! For example, a voter during April could get a $250 travel voucher for American Airlines and a chance to win one of these: an HTC Tilt 2.
Here’s the official scoop:
Registered users/voters also have a chance to win a prize. Every time a registered user of the site casts a vote, he or she will be entered for a chance to win a $250 American Airlines gift certificate as well as an HTC Tilt2 device. Registered users are only allowed one vote/entry per day, but they can receive up to 30 entries total if they vote every day in the month of April.
Obviously, I ask that you vote for me and tell your friends and family to do so as well. But more so, I’m hoping that you will follow me on my little adventure this month “traveling”, posting commentary as I go using the HTC Tilt 2.
NOTE: this is the FULL article of the one that appears on the “Lose the Laptop” site. Please be sure to vote!
Oh, and I do have some travel adventures planned for April so be sure to ride along!
